I’ve always been a sensitive soul; eager to find love. Over time, I bought into the harmful belief that vulnerability is a weakness—I found creative ways to hide who I was—and became afraid to show my true self to the world. My experiences led to depression and body-image issues, and extended to recognizing how common self-sabotage and self-esteem issues are in others.
Those experiences led to the expression of my compassion and caring. I learned how to shift my mindset and start imagining a life greater than my current reality.
I began to attract new experiences and booked a one-way ticket to Thailand that kickstarted a 10-year journey of self-discovery that changed the trajectory of my life.
As you get to know me, you’ll discover my story does not contain a single epiphany but is one of consistent growth. I grew the most when I put myself into new situations, like when I received a job offer in Australia to work for the world’s largest inter-dealer broker and jumped at the challenge.
Immersing myself in a culture of men in finance gifted me the opportunity to observe men—every day was a case study in male culture. I grew professionally, and personally, and learned about the importance of conflict resolution and boundaries.
I wasn’t only focusing on my career overseas, I had situationships and committed relationships. Every one of them taught me valuable lessons including how our partners reflect our own inadequacies back to us, and how a loving relationship starts with ‘knowing thyself’.
Part of vulnerability is understanding when you need support.
I hired a coach.
With my newfound knowledge, I left my job, courageously ended a relationship, sold all my belongings, and returned to Vancouver, Canada. And that’s when my greatest transformation began.
I peeled back the layers of self-protection, took feedback from mentors, and learned how to lead myself. I continued to work with coaches and immersed myself in education, investing tens of thousands to become accredited.
I became a coach.
